Afghanistan is located in the southern part of Central Asia, and it is a landlocked country.It is a bridge between East and West, connecting Central Asia and West Asia and South Asia, and its location is very important.Historically, Afghanistan had been invaded by foreigners many times, but the Afghans defeated the invaders in their own way. The War in Afghanistan(1979-1989) had important influence on Afghan history. There were many resistance in the struggle against the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan from 1979-1989,and Sunni Resistance played the most important role.The Afghanistan Sunni Resistance were the Islamic groups of against aggressors and their secular governments.There were seven Sunni Resistance:Islamic Party of Afghanistan leading by Gulbuddin Hikmatyar.Islamic Society of Afghanistan leading by Burhanuddin Rabbani.Islamic Party of Afghanistan leading by Muhammad Yonus Khalis.Islamic Union for the Freedom of Afghanistan leading by Abdul Rasul Sayyaf. National Islamic Front of Afghanistan leading by Sayyid Ahmad Gailani. Afghanistan National Liberation Front leading by Sebghatullah Mujadedi.Movement of the Islamic Revolution leading by Muhammad Nabi Muhammadi.This article includes the following three parts:The first part,describes the establishment of the Sunni Resistance.This chapter first overviews the history of Afghanistan,then describes the origin of the Islamic Movement: the emergence of Islamists and their activities in the 1950s,final describes the establishment of the Sunni Resistance in the Republic of Afghanistan and the regime of People’s Democratic Party of Afghanistan(the Regime of Taraki and Amin).The second part is the key chapter of this article,analysis the development of the Sunni Resistance in the War in Afghanistan(1979-1989).First this chapter describes the growth of the Sunni Resistance and its change of organization structure.Then this chapter introduces the seven Sunni Resistance, including its leaders, its organization structure, its commanders and its diplomatic activities.Finally,this chapter discusses foreign aid to Sunni Resistance,and analysis why foreign countries include America Pakistan and other countries aid the Sunni Resistance of Afghanistan,and these countries how to aid the Sunni Resistance focusing on the transport channel and the distribution of weapons.The third part,analysis the development of the Sunni Resistance after the Soviet troops withdraw.Although the Soviet troops had withdrew from Afghanistan, the Soviet Union continued to support Najibullah Regime,the Sunni Resistance had to continue to against the aggressor(Soviet Union)and the secular government.This chapter describes the struggles of Sunni Resistance to overthrow Najibullah Regime,and analysis the change of foreign countries’policy to Sunni Resistance.The conclusion part, summarizes the three characteristics of Sunni Resistance: independence;decentralized organization structure;a strong dependence on foreign.
