Cheng Hao (1032-1085) was also called Ming-tao (Po-chun), Cheng Yi (1033-1107) was also called Cheng-shu (Yi-chuan), and they were known as ErCheng (the Cheng Brothers). As the rear guard of " The Five Scholars of Northern Song Dynasty ", there were lots of academic researches on Ercheng’s philosophy and educational thoughts, otherwise, most of the researches on their educational thoughts were done from the perspective of modern educational theory but not Chinese philosophy. Ercheng’s thoughts, such as paying attention to new thinking and inspiration in school education, being determined to study, were brought into the systems of educational purpose, educational style and educational content. There were three kinds of viewpoints on the differences between Cheng Hao’s thoughts and Cheng Yi’s:Firstly, they had the same idea; Secondly, they were fundamentally different; Thirdly, there were similarities and differences between them, I agreed with the third view. The studies on different aspects of their academic point of view mainly concentrated on ontology, the theory of cultivation and culture theory, when it came to the differences of educational philosophy between Cheng Hao and Cheng Yi, few paper existed. This paper was attempt to analyze different styles of Ercheng’s educational philosophy.Obviously, we could not equal western educational theory to Chinese traditional moral education, so it was clearly not reasonable to analyze Ercheng’s educational thoughts purely based on modern educational theory, and it was also too macroscopic to analyze their educational thoughts by their philosophy, because educational thought was only an aspect of the philosophy. So let us try returning to the original position, supposing that Ercheng were two ordinary Confucian scholars in Northern Song Dynasty, we could study their thoughts from knowing about themselves, then Ercheng’s educational thoughts would be sublimated naturally from their life experiences.It was the main content of the Confucian educational thought that how to cultivate someone’s virtue and talent, including Ercheng. Both Cheng Hao and Cheng Yi learnt from Zhou Dunyi, so their common goal was learning Tao of Sages; What was different was that Cheng Hao paid more attention to "Teach accounting to One’s Personalities", but in Cheng Yi’s eyes, people should "Respect Teachers and Value Education Although Ercheng had nearly the same family background and educational experience, there were also lots of reasons in forming their different kinds of educational styles, including character, life experience and political experience as well as their responsibilities shouldered by age, but the fundamental reason was their different learning styles based on the above. As Confucian scholars, Ercheng were not only the successors of Confucianism, but also the inaugurators of Neo-Confucianism and Study of Heart, which caused the debate between Zhu Xi and Lu Jiuyuan potentially.
