An Investigation On The Application Of Language In Public Places In Chang'an District Of Xi'an

This paper is a survey of public language application status in southern university city of Chang’an District in Xi’an. The standardization of language and words means a lot to the construction and development of our country, especially in Xi’an, which is a provincial capital city and will be a big international metropolis; its use of language and words attracts more attention. The present language situation of Xi’an not only guides the public, but also affects the image of Xi’an to a certain extent. Therefore, the research of public language application status has a certain theoretical value and practical significance.Based on the field investigation and data collection, this paper summarized the abnormal phenomenon and the specific performance, analyzed the reasons of non-standard phenomenon and put forward some solving strategies. I hope that through the completion of this paper, we can draw attention of academic community and relevant government departments. And we can take corresponding measures to make the language application of Xi’an more standardized.This paper is divided into four parts:The first chapter is the introduction of the purpose and significance of the research, the related research situation and the theoretical basis for this study. Purpose and significance of this study is to provide reference and standard for the words used in the public places; be good for continuing to implement the national norm of language policy in Xi’an, in order to make a contribution to the standardization of language and characters; be good for the future development and realization of Xi’an international city positioning. The study not only relates to the earliest Street Characters survey, research on one aspect of the nonstandard characters (such as focus on non-standard characters classification, causes or the negative effects), but also involves the investigation of different regions in recent ten years. The main theoretical basis for the study are The universal law of language of The People’s Republic of China, relevant laws and regulations, the standard word lists and so on.The second chapter is the results of the non-standard phenomenon in Southern University of Chang’an District in Xi’an. Firstly, introduced the background of the investigation, the object and scope of the investigation, and methods and requirements of investigation in Southern University of Chang’an District. Secondly, show the total results of the survey. Describe the various types of non-standard words in detail by using the tables, including the total survey, specification number, the percentage of specification number, investigation of the total number of words, the number of non-standard Chinese characters and the percentage of non-standard Chinese characters. The 20 roads in the survey, only three of the roads did not have any word problems. Once again, the specific situation of various non-standard characters and fonts is summarized. The main performance of non-standard phenomenon of language is abuse of traditional Chinese characters. Then, according to the different users, respectively illustrates the use of various types of object characters. Finally, internal differences of the non-standard phenomenon of language in Southern University of Chang’an District in Xi’an were compared.The third chapter is a summary of the reasons of non-standard phenomenon of language in Southern University of Chang’an District in Xi’an. There are four main aspects:the lack of "universal character is simplified consciousness"; too much emphasis on advertising; the absence of government, media and public participation; analysis of the different reasons among the investigation area.The fourth chapter based on the nonstandard phenomenon causes, targeted puts forward some solving strategies.
