A Study Of Conflict Discourse In TV Plays

The talk result of the conflict discourse is called the conflict speech. The conflict speech which is a complex and interesting language phenomenon has been studied by the scholars since twentieth Century 80 years. Although the research angle of view on it is more and more specific, the term that is used is more and more precise, comprehensive and systematic analysis about it is lack. Based on the conflict talk in TV series, using the method of combination of description and interpretation and the method of combining qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis, we want to reveals the characteristics of conflict speech, how conflict speech occurs, the causes of conflict speech and how to ease it, so as to attain comprehensive and systematic analysis about conflict speech. The article is divided into three parts.The first part is the first chapter as introduction. First discusses the research background and significance of the study of conflict speech, then points out the research methods in this paper, it is the method of combination of description and interpretation and the method of combining qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis, this paper mainly bases on the discourse analysis theory, at last reorganize the research status about conflict speech at home and abroad.The second part includes four chapters from the second chapter to the fifth chapter:The second chapter introduces the definition of conflict speech and characteristics of it. According to Ran Yongping, we defined conflict speech as:in verbal communication as the conversation and interview, because of the different opinions, views, position and angle of the same event, there will be antagonistic speech action and event such as arguments, quarrel, objection, disagreement, and opposition, and reflects one party of the communication oppose, do not agree or do not support the talk of the other side, even to stop the implementation of a communicative goal, this kind of discourse and speech act collectively referred to as "conflict talk" or "conflict discourse" (conflict speech).The typical features of conflict speech are interactive and opposite.The third chapter introduces the process of conflict speech. The process of conflict speech can be divided into three stages as causing, pushing and ending. Conflict speech can be caused by five kinds of speech acts as asking, declaration, statement, instruction and expression. One or both of the communication parties can promote conflict speech through arguing, questioning, repeating, explaining the reasons, interrupting, humor and comprehensive way. The ending ways of conflict speech are divided into and non linguistic. The ways are making a concession, transferring topic, withdrawing, wining of one party and intervention of third party. Non linguistic ways are ending into the objective environment and violence.The fourth chapter introduces the causes of the conflict speech. The reasons of conflict speech can be divided into two aspects as linguistics and social psychology. In linguistics, the outbreak of conflict speech is due to the violation of relevance principle and ignorance of linguistic adaption. In social psychology, role conflict and intimate relationship between the two sides of communication are easy to cause conflict speech.The fifth chapter introduces the ease of conflict speech. Conflict speech has positive and negative pragmatic effect. To make the conflict speech elaborate more positive pragmatic effects and avoid increasing the escalation of the conflict intensity, we should ease the conflict speech. Do something specifically from the following two aspects:to enable the two sides of the communication in the same communication environment and use assuasive talk.The third part conclusion, summarizes the full text..
