The study about translation of Chinese dish names are very important for disseminating Chinese culture especially Chinese catering culture.The passage primarily does some research about the trains of Chinese dietary culture.At the same time,analyzing differences between Chinese and western’s culture and elements which have an effect on named Chinese dish names.Besides,talking about the method and strategy for translated Chinese dish names for the sake of looking for a perfect translations that can not only keeping the Chinese culture element,but also can be accepted and understood by the foreigners.There are five parts in the passage in total:The first chapter is introduction,mainly analyzing current situation and the necessity of making research about Chinese dish names translation,although the study about translation of Chinese dish names already got some achievements,it still exists many shorts,Just because of this,making translation better becomes more urgent,it is also the need of pushing Chinese dietary culture to the world.The second chapter,we primarily analyze the characters of Chinese dish names rely on talking about the traits of Chinese catering culture,including the differences between Chinese and western’s dietary culture.At the same time,denominating the Chinese dish names are deeply influenced by language,area,society and religion.Therefor,we need pay much more attention to considering right methods of translation from these four aspects.The third chapter,considering of the feature of Chinese dish names,mainly analyze the suitable translating principles and further discuss translating strategy systematically by selecting words,replace words,addition and deletion.The fourth chapter mainly focus on analyzing translating methods and modes.What’s more,combining with the translating experience of real case, analyzing literal translation,free translation,transliteration and add annotations. Then,further analyzing and finding out a suitable translating mode:on the basic of maintaining cultural elements at the maximum,as well as the translated Chinese dish names can be accepted and understood by those people who master English well.Then,comprehensive using those strategy and methods,mainly discuss how to deal with culture elements and rhetorical device which included in the Chinese dish names.The fifth chapter is the conclusion of the passage,summarizing the main points and results of study,rethinking the shorts of the passage,then looking forward to the future study prospect on the English translation of Chinese dish names.
