The opera of China has a history of less than 100 years up to now, but a lot of excellent opera music composers appeared with Xu Zhanhai as one of the representatives. The author selected opera Fishing City of Xu Zhanhai in 2012 as the research object to analyze organizational relations of its pitch, aiming to disclose the features of harmony’s application in opera composition of Xu Zhanhai, and then further work out his individual composition style and features. The author wishes to fill in the gap of composing technique theory, especially the aspect of harmony, by studying opera of Xu Zhanhai Fishing City. This paper was divided into six parts: Part 1 briefly introduced life stories and composition of composer and overviewed one of his works. Party 2 summarized the using situation of mode materials of the work with the personality of several figures within the work as the theme. Part 3 analyzed and summarized longitudinal pitch materials. Part 4 stated longitudinal and horizontal relations to reflect the integration of the composer’s several creative principles of thinking. Part 5 stated organization and operation of pitch. Part 6 worked out the structural influence of pitch organization to theatrical music by studying the overall music structure of the opera. By analyzing and studying organizational relations of pitch of the whole opera, the author found out the concepts of the composer: inheritance, reference and integration. Inheritance means to inherit traditional folk music and culture and composing methods. Reference means to refer to modern technical ways of the west. Integration is reflected as the integration of the traditional with non-traditional, the integration of mode with non-mode, and the integration of national style with modern composing skills.
