A Study Of Chinese New Words In The Perspective Of Cultural Linguistics

Language is a symbol of its culture and also shaped by the culture. Vocabulary is the most active component of a language, especially the neologism whose number increased a lot in recent years. The neologism is influenced by our culture during its process, at the same time it deeply reflects our cultural reality.This paper will take five years of Language Situation in China which published by the National Language Resource Monitoring and Research Center(The Department of Language application and management of Ministry of Education of P.R.China) as the corpus source. And the paper aims to analyze the neologism in the last five years from a cultural linguistics perspective.The paper is composed of five chapters.The introduction will mainly introduce the current research status of the neologism, the definition of neologism, the research methods, the corpus source and the research significance.Chapter one will use quantitive and qualitative methods to analyze the neologism. Meanwhile, all the data will be displayed by charts, so the characteristics of the neologism can be seen more scientifically and intuitively.Chapter two is the core of this paper. In this Chapter, the cultural linguistic methods and some related theories of sociolinguistics will be used to analyze the neologism in the last five years. The analysis will be divided into three aspects: the cultural background of the neologism, the cultural psychology of the neologism and the cultural interpretations of typical neologism.Chapter three will center on the neologism normalization which is based on the actual situation of the neologism in the last five year.The Conclusion will end with the research results of the paper, the enlightenments of the research and the limitations and suggestions for future research.According to the above study, hopefully it can help to have a better understanding of the laws of the neologism and our cultural reality, also expect this paper can provide some useful experience for the neologism normalization.
