Qin ge(song with musical accompaniment) is one of the traditional manifestation patterns of guqin; it is the high combination of music and literature. Qin ge has a long history and runs through every historical period of the development of guqin; it reflects the artistic features of guqin music.Chengdu is an ancient famous city with history and culture; it is also the fertile soil which can nourish the qin ge art of China. From Han Dynasty, there were written records about guqin activities in Chengdu area. As an ancient guqin music form, qin ge was unceasingly inherited and developed from that time in the long history of the area.The first chapter in this paper briefly reviews the development history of qin ge art in Chengdu area.The second chapter summarizes the current development situation of qin ge in Chengdu area nowadays. This chapter describes the current development situation from six aspects which are figure, guqin organization, track, pattern, activity and inheritance.The third chapter attaches importance to the research on the artistic characters of contemporary qin ge in Chengdu area from three aspects of creation characters, singing characters and the functions of guqin.Following the development of times and the change of concepts, qin ge is not only the literati music in the tower of ivory. It needs to face publics and seek more recognitions. On the basis of inheriting the profound historical culture heritage of qin ge, we should unceasingly make innovation and keep pace with the times to create new works of qin ge which accord with the modern beauty appreciation demands and suit both refined and popular tastes. We should also attach importance to the cultivation of youth singers of qin ge, which will make this ancient artistic manifestation pattern of qin ge continuously give out brilliant flame in the new era.
