An Eye Movement Study On The Influence Of Material Emotion On Moral Reasoning

Moral reasoning is individual moral knowledge has been obtained in accordance with the cognitive process of right and wrong to make a judgment on the moral phenomenon.Studies have shown that emotions are important factors affecting individual moral reasoning. However, current research related materials domestic emotional impact of moral reasoning is on rare. In this study, the eye tracker as a research tool, moral dilemma problem as experimental material, to find the effects of emotional material for high school and college students’ moral reasoning.First experiment investigated the impact of emotional material for high school and college students’ moral reasoning. The results show: 1.the level of moral reasoning in anger and sadness material condition was significantly higher than a neutral material, lower levels of moral reasoning sadness material condition was significantly higher than anger material;2. Materials emotional impact on college students and high school students moral reasoning was no significant difference; 3. Moral reasoning level of college students is significantly higher than high school.Second experiment investigated the impact of emotional material during high school and college moral reasoning various eye movement indicators. The results show: 1.Fixation time 、 the number of fixations and pupil size under angry material and sad material are significantly higher than neutral material; 2. Fixation time 、 the number of fixations and pupil size under angry material are significantly higher than sad material 3.High school students fixation time 、 the number of fixations and pupil size are significantly higher than college students.The main conclusions of this study: 1. materials emotional impact of individual moral reasoning level, negative emotions material will reduce the level of individual moral reasoning;2. materials emotional have the same effect on individuals with different moral reasoning ability.
