Polygamous Family In Lin Lanxiang

“Lin Lan Xiang” is a realistic novel at the beginning of Qing Dynasty period, and it is also a family novel that has main subject of daily life. The secular family life described in “Lin Lan Xiang” is also a good research angle that not be valued. Based on this, this article mainly discusses the polygamous family problems reflected in “Lin Lan Xiang”.This paper is mainly divided into four chapters:The first chapter content is the introduction of “Lin Lan Xiang” and polygamy, having an important basic function for below. The first section overviews the story in “Lin Lan Xiang”from several aspects, such as the background of Geng Hall in “Lin Lan Xiang”, the relationship between family members and the daily life. The second section discusses the three aspects of polygamy, mainly contains the history of polygamy, the reason of taking concubine, the source of concubine.The second chapter content is to explore the male character —Geng Lang’s image in the“Lin Lan Xiang”. This chapter firstly analyzes two kinds of image of the family novels in the Ming and Qing dynasties. That’s “without father" and the "black sheep". On the basis, Geng Lang’s husband role is positioned.The third chapter is to explore the patterns of husband and wife in “Lin Lan Xiang”. This chapter takes a new classified angle about the relations between Geng Lang and his wives,including the loveless marriage that regards husband as the center, and the conjugal relation which doesn’t like husband and wife. This classification is based on whether wives are attached to her husband and regard her husband as a marriage motivation.The forth chapter is the harem relations, contains the alignment of the harem and the contradictions. The alignment between wives is a new type of alliance based on friendship.And the contradiction is numerous during the normal life of polygamy family. Then this article also analyzed the conflict types and reasons from three points of view. The life which is full of intrigue reflects ancient women’s low position and unfortunately life.
