In the opinion of the specific brushstroke idea of Mr. Huang Binhong, and theoretically based on his writings, researches done by experts and scholars regarding to Mr. Huang’s brushstrokes, and research literature of his entire creation course, this paper analyzes the brushstroke techniques in Huang’s bird-and-flower paintings, and underlying causes of the appearance of his bird-and-flower paintings in terms of aspects as follows:Brushstroke techniques as the core of traditional Chinese painting had reached a critical point where the old and new started to combine. The original value system in this era of turbulence was prone to collapse. Mr. Huang however, with his profound learning and accomplishment that surpassed general peers, persistent technique trainings and the spirit of inclusiveness, had established a value system of brushstroke characterized not only his artistic individuality and styles, but also the significance of epoch-making.He built up his world of art based on such a concep. In this paper is analyzed the brushstroke content in his bird-and-flower paintings through the aspects of the brush style, using of ink and water, selection of colors, transformation of imagic languages, individual schema and others, and to demonstrate the distinction between them and their counterparts of previous generations through discussing various themes, poetics in the means of expression and the resulting aesthetic effect of uniqueness.The influence on Mr. Huang’s bird-and-flower paintings by his long-term engagement in the creation of shan shui paintings is analyzed through the comparison among spatial scale, space leaving, angle of creation, vibe of frame and other respects.The bird-and-flower paintings of Mr. Huang Binhong has their significance in reference value in modern time,.
