Born in Cologne, Germany, and passing away in Paris, France. Offenbach(1819‐1880) was a French German composer. As an outstanding representative of French operetta, he performs well in combining current urban folk songs with comedy, opera, art traditions of state play, and living newspaper play in the avenue of Paris, France. In later years, he was fully devoted to creation of the master piece Les Contes d’ Hoffmann. As death approaches this outstanding composer, he got no chance to witness success of the opera. The aria Les Oiseaux Dans La Charmille of coloratura soprano in the operator won universal praise and came down to current days. Offenbach wrote nearly 90 operettas and other stage plays in his whole life. His works are popular among audiences. At present, the music circle accepts Offenbach as great founder of French operetta.This thesis researches vocal performance skills of coloratura soprano. Based on the character Olympia in Les Contes d’ Hoffmann and personalities of the protagonist Olympia in the opera, the thesis analyzed and explored art styles and vocal performance skills of Les Oiseaux Dans La Charmille. At the same time, the thesis analyzed the music work from musical form, harmony, lyrics, and piano accompaniment. In addition, the author suggests learners to identify and listen singing of international and domestic vocal artists, so as to draw experience from their performance as well as improve our vocal performance level and artistic accomplishments.
