A Research On The Effect Of Tragedy’s Dramatic And Musical Element On Protagonist’s Image-building In Soprano Arias

Opera is a kind of western stage performance art using music and singing to narrate and express plots.It is not only a combination of literature and music,but also a mixture of various elements of the theatre(like stage set,dress,performance etc.).It is similar to traditional Chinese Opera.However,it seems that the Opera with a tragic end or using tragedy as a main clue will be thought highly of.Classical tragedy is the most expressive part in singer’s performance,and will leave a deep impression to the audience.Through the literature reviews,the author finds that many essays analyze tragedy’s elements from the perspective of Literature.Besides,some essays analyze structures of the music in aria from the perspective of Music History.Most academic vocal pedagogy selects scores in Classicism or Romanticism era,such as the music compositions written by Mozart,Rossini,Verdi,Puccini.There are less pedagogies using the scores in Baroque era,such as the music of Handel or Bach.Therefore,the author analyzes the tragedy’s musical element in Opera by choosing two representative soprano arias in Baroque era: Dove Sono I Bei Momenti and Piangero La Sorte Mia as samples.From the perspective of music and drama,the author deeply researches the tragedy’s dramatic and musical element effect on protagonist’s image-building through the aspects of learning,singing and performing in soprano arias.The aim to this research is to improve the singing expression and performance level.
