In this paper, the planarity of the 20 th century western modern painting was used as the research background, the planarity of the Balthus’ s painting(A French painter)was used as a individual cases to reaserch specifically. it was based on the Analysis of all of Balthus’ s life and his production, searched the reason and development of the Planarity painting language and demonstrated the significance and value of the Painting planarity.According to collecting and combing the information about growth environment, travel experience, aesthetic taste and artistic conception of Balthus,it discovered tha the reason of his Painting planarity mainly includes three aspects: the effects of the family and social, life and art,the enlightenment from the Renaissance Frescoes in the early 15 th century,becoming attached to Oriental art. It has proven that why Balthus adopped the Planarity painting language to change his art style, the Pap Image Planarity is also be a strong indication which could be as the modernism painting category.In this paper, it also analyzed the Painting modeling,colour,space plane of Balthus’ s works, searched the presentation of the Planarity language, excavated the value of his painting planarity.The value of Balthus’ s painting planarity is not only injected fresh blood to the traditional classic to make it renew in the present, but also offered a kind of new ideas for the modernism art----- fused the classic with contemporary, figurative and abstract, the east and the west and all the other knowledge domain and painting that related to himself, thus forming the unique and highly quality artistic style.
