The concept of Barrier-free Design was first proposed in 1974, and after 41 years development, barrier-free facilities obtained continued improvements. At the same time, designs for disabled people are continuously increasing. Starting with demands of RP patients, this paper is aimed at how to design works that can solve RP patients’ visual difficulties. Based on oral inquiring, questionnaire survey, observation, literature studying, simulation, information researching and other research methods, from the point of view of RP patients’demands, this paper studies how to help RP patients obtain "Happy Lifestyle".By studying Color Psychology, Gestalt Psychology, Ergonomics, as well as actual needs of RP patients, this paper found how to mitigate visual impairments of RP patients in direction of Visual Communication, and then proposed some advices on barrier-free products designing.Based on the RP disease progression, visual acuity decreasing, visual field gradually narrowing, and starting with object shape changing, font size increasing, color contrast enhancing and multi-sensory aiding, this paper inspired possibilities of design and found design directions to relieve visual pressures of RP patients. In addition, a design that can improve RP patients’visual accessibility has been worked out. This production can help RP patients integrate into our society, reduce visual difficulties, minimize psychological pressures and improve their life quality and happiness.
