From Novel To Drama

The "Ordinary World" is a famous book of realism, this novel has influenced generations of young people, and it is still glowing with its own spirit until today. The novel has been spread in many ways such as radio, TV, comic strips and so on. It was adapted into a 14-episode TV series in 1990, and became very popular from audiences.After 25 years, the new version of TV series "Ordinary World", which was shooting in Yulin, got high audience rating after broadcast, the clicks ratio on the internet was also unexpectedly high. Why is the new version of TV series "Ordinary World" could get so many people’s attention and recognition, and how does it complete the adaptation of the novel in the context of the times, their advantages and disadvantages and the practical significance is the main aspect of this study.This article is studying the new version of TV series "Ordinary World" from four parts. During the first part, we focus on teasing apart the creating process of the original novel, and combine with the creation experiences and times background of Lu Yao to dig the inner spirits of the original novel, which provides the inherent basis that why this novel could adapted into a TV series. The second part analyzes the adapting process from new version of TV series “Ordinary World” to the original novel whether it is reasonable or not from characterization, plots reset and restructure of narrative theme. The third part analyzes sounds and images of the new version of TV series “Ordinary World”, it is analyzed and explained from the use of the lens,composition, color and lighting as well as dialects, narration and music, the principle is to analysis the function of these skills and methods to the role of the story progresses and rendering. The fourth part is the enlightenment and rethinking of the adaptation of new version of TV series “Ordinary World”, through analyzing some existing adapt problems of the new version TV series, to explore the repercussions and hot news behind the new TV series, hope to provide some valuable references for the adaptation from novel to TV series in the future.
