As the quintessence of people’s wisdom, idiom is closely connected with the natural culture. Idiom has a long history, even up to this day it is widely used. Color words are one of the most active members in the vocabulary, because of their rich cultural semantics, they are important research object that attracts many scholars. Color words make idiom colorful and rich in content. In this paper the six basic color words are regarded as research object--- red, yellow, blue, green, black and white. According the semantic field theory, the color semantic field of Russian and Chinese idioms are analyzed using the inductive, enumeration and comparison methods.This paper consists of three parts: instruction, text and conclusion. In the instruction idioms’ and color words’ important position in Russian teaching, theoretical significance, practical significance of inter-cultural communication and overseas and domestic research status of idiom and color words. In the text first of all the range of idioms and the number of basic color words are defined, the research object in this paper is confirmed. Afterward the characteristics and clarifies of semantic field are introduced and the semantic field of six basic color words in Russian and Chinese idioms are analyzed using the semantic field theory. In the end viewing from the semantic field point, the difficulties and methods of translation of idioms with color words are proposed, then the teaching suggestions are made.By comparing the color semantic field of Russian and Chinese idioms, it is obvious: the color semantic field in idioms distributes unevenly, firstly the total number of semantic field is different, some semantic fields distribute widely, other semantic fields distribute narrowly. Secondly some semantic fields distribute widely in Chinese idioms, but narrowly in Russian idioms. At last the color semantic fields of Russian and Chinese idioms don’t correspond, the divergence just deserves to be researched. The different color semantic fields of Russian and Chinese idioms are key and difficult points in Russian teaching. Knowing the similarities and differences of color semantic field of Russian and Chinese idioms, mastering the reasons for similarities and differences of color semantic field of Russian and Chinese idioms and avoiding the effect of negative transfer of native language are convenient for inter-cultural communication and understanding.
