A Study Of Female Idioms

The essay mainly talked about female idioms and the writer found 357 female idioms, using linguistic theories with combination of sociology, history, women’s studies, statistics and other disciplines theory of female idioms to develop the research. The essay also studied 17 kinds of mainstream newspapers’ women idioms on 2012, which was based on China’s mainstream newspaper Dynamic Circulation Corpus(DCC).The female idioms devoted to depictions of women idioms, idioms of women’s stories and other female idioms. The writer adopted second classification of a total of more than two thirds of women idioms which specifically for description of women. The writer put the female idioms of the grammatical structure, rhetorical devices and cultural connotation and so on as the most important and difficult part, which revealing the characteristics of various aspects of female idioms. Combined with the study of Chinese traditional culture and female idioms, the writer dig out what the women images are behind the idioms that contain abundant Chinese traditional female culture. It also deepens our understanding of the history of Han nationality’s women and Han nationality’s traditional cultural. Through the research, we established a Chinese female idioms description database for the first time. According to our survey of female idioms from China’s 17 kinds of mainstream newspapers in 2012, we provide writing and studying materials for further understanding of the current female idioms, female idiom for the future research and Chinese idioms’ related research, Chinese idioms’ teaching practice and compiling teaching materials.
