For the past few years, With the development of China’s Economy and promotion of comprehensive national power, the spread of Chinese is becoming more and more quickly and widely. Currently, There is a craze for Chinese Language around the world. Taking America as an example, more and more states are going to open Chinese courses. Some states even make laws to guarantee the legal status of Chinese language in elementary and secondary school. At present, Chinese Immersion Program was recognized by more and more parents and developed rapidly. Since 1981, the first Chinese immersion school-Chinese American International School appeared in San Francisco, Chinese immersion schools were well received by more and more American families. By November 2015, there are 207 elementary and secondary schools have Chinese immersion program. (Include public schools and private schools).As a volunteer Chinese language teacher in Confucius Institute of Kennesaw State University, the author has been teaching Mandarin Chinese in International Charter School of Atlanta for 10 months from August 2015 to June 2016 in Georgia. International Charter school is a new school. The author was 1st grade’s mandarin teacher as well as homeroom teacher, practiced Chinese immersion teaching during this year. This thesis is divided into four sections: Chapter one is Introduction, it introduces the origin, significance, review and method of this topic. Chapter two Introduces ICSA’s Instructional Situation Overview. Include General Introduction of ICSA, curriculum and teaching arrangements of school. Chapter Four is the reflection on Chinese immersion program in US.
