Immersive teaching is a teaching model based on subject content and using target language as the teaching language.Students in immersive school should not only learn the target language,but also learn other courses in the target language.Chinese immersion program uses Chinese as a direct teaching language to teach other subjects,improve second language ability and ensure the subject knowledge.In recent years,it has been recognized by many parents and has developed rapidly in the United States.As a volunteer teacher of the Confucius Institute at Portland State University,the author worked at a Chinese immersion school at Northwest Chinese Academy from August 2018 to June 2019.Northwest Chinese Academy is a 10-year-old Chinese immersive school that has been unanimously recognized by the community and parents.The first grade is a key successor to Chinese immersion.This article introduces the basic situation of this school from the aspects of immersive Chinese environment,student characteristics,teachers,and teaching materials.Among them,it focuses on the teaching characteristics and advantages of Chinese full immersion school.The first grade is the key observation object.The Chinese immersive classroom teaching in first grade was elaborated in detail,and the problems existing in the immersive classroom of Northwest Chinese Academy of Literature were analyzed and some thoughts were put forward.There are four chapters in this article.The first chapter is an introduction,which mainly discusses the background and significance of the topic,related research trends,research objectives and research methods.The second chapter introduces the overall teaching situation of the school,including the campus environment,curriculum and teaching arrangements,the basic situation of students and teachers,and the selection of teaching materials.The third chapter takes the first grade as an example to investigate and analyze the Chinese full immersion classroom,including classroom teaching content and teaching methods,classroom management,multi-modal teaching resources and teaching evaluation of various subjects.The fourth chapter is the thinking and suggestions for the Chinese immersion program in the United States.This article points out the need to formulate a unified syllabus and curriculum standards;increase Chinese ontology knowledge and second language teaching skills training for immersive classroom native teachers;It is necessary to use existing teaching materials creatively and develop multi-modal teaching resources;teacher should combine children's learning characteristics and intelligent advantages to design classroom activities.
