The object of this paper are foreign students at middle and advanced level. The target of this paper is Metaphor Idioms of People. Metaphor Idioms of People are used frequently in daily life but they abound in a high degree of colloquialism, so they are hard to master for foreign students. Foreign students always make all sorts of errors during the learning process, which always lead to barriers in communication. This paper is based on questionnaires and analyzes the composition of Metaphor Idioms of People, then classify these Idioms according to how difficult that foreign students to master them. Through this survey, we hope to summarize the errors that foreign students usually make and propose countermeasure and suggestions according to the reasons.This paper is divided into four parts, the contents of each part are as follows:Part I, Introduction. This part includes the purpose and significance of the topic; Combs and summarizes the relevant theories about Metaphor Idioms of People, including the language itself and the application in teaching Chinese as a foreign language; The related researches about this paper, including the object, the methods, the sources, the innovation and deficiency, etc.Part II, The related analysis of Metaphor Idioms of People. The first part is the definition of Metaphor Idioms of People; The second part, classification according to the composition of these Idioms.Part III, Questionnaire analysis of foreign student’s learning situation about Metaphor Idioms of People. Questionnaire analysis based on questionnaires and incorrect sentences from HSK dynamic Composition Corpus; List tables and data, summed up all kind of problems and analyze its causes in teaching Chinese as a foreign language. At the same time, according to the results of the questionnaire, analyze the degree of difficulty in the practical teaching in order to teach these idioms effectively.Part IV, Propose some specific methods on teaching according to the characteristics of Metaphor Idioms of People, the result of the questionnaires and the problems of using Metaphor Idioms of People.
