Chinese idioms are a kind of fixed phrases which are alive, vivid, and very interesting, and their frequency of use is very high in our daily life. In the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language, giving an emphasis on teaching idioms is very necessary to satisfy foreign students to improve their Chinese practical communication abilities.As an important component of Chinese vocabulary, Chinese idioms are an essential process in learning Chinese, and also, they are a more difficult part to master. Now, research of idioms almost pays attention to research of the idioms themselves, the research achievement and academic monograph also have richer gains. In the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language, however, there are less researches of teaching idioms, and not enough to the functions of idioms culture connotations in the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language. This paper will start from the cultural background of idioms, proposing the concept of allusions and idioms, analyzing and discussing the position of the allusions and idioms in the Chinese culture and the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language, as well as the function in cultivating the Chinese communicative ability of foreign students, and the paper will investigate and ponder over allusions and idioms in the teaching material which in the advanced stage of teaching Chinese as a foreign language, in older to provide reference for the selection of material, layout, explanation and practice of the teaching materials which are about allusions and idioms in future. The paper is divided into four parts to discuss the allusions and idioms in the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language and teaching materials. The first part is introduction, introducing the concept of the allusions and idioms, the reason for the selected topic and the meaning of research, as well as making a brief analysis for the research status of domestic allusions and idioms, and also putting forward the innovation of this article. The second part mainly analyzes the characteristics and classification of allusions and idioms, discussing the function of allusions and idioms in the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language, and pointing out the teaching of allusions and idioms is an important window to promote Chinese culture as well as an important way to develop cross-cultural communicative ability. The third part primarily investigates the allusions and idioms in the teaching materials of the advanced teaching of Chinese as a foreign language. This article selects two kinds of advanced stage materials of the Beijing language and culture university press, and makes an investigation and analysis one by one to the distribution, quantity, notes and exercises. The fourth part is the thinking of allusions and idioms of the advanced stage materials of the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language. First, analyzing the importance of allusions and idioms for the teaching materials from two aspects which is the allusions and idioms will help to enhance the teaching purpose and interest of teaching materials as well as help to increase cultural knowledge. Then, this part are some assumptions and suggestions for the allusions and idioms for the design of the advanced stage materials of the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language, including the way to layout, the way to note, and the practice of the allusions and idioms and so forth.
