With its distinctive features,idiomatic expressions are important components in contemporary Chinese.Being of great quantity,steady in structures,fixed in meanings,they are wildly used in the written and oral contemporary Chinese.The type of idiomatic expressions with animals'metaphor,which compare animals to human to express a kind of morals and is vivid,implicit and humorous,is an important part of contemporary Chinese.In the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language,foreign students take a great interest in this kind of idiomatic expressions.However,being not able to understand their meanings,emotional colorings and cultural connotations,they become a difficult point in Chinese learning.The researches on this type of idiomatic expressions are limited,so are the summaries of its teaching experience.Therefore,this essay aims at studying the type of idiomatic expressions with animals' metaphor,analyzing their features and putting forward teaching schemes,in an attempt to help foreign students to learn and master this kind of idiomatic expressions.This essay is composed of four parts.Among them,the part one is the introduction focusing on the significance of the topic,previous researches and the sources of the materials.In the second part,from the angle of linguistics,some features are analyzed such as pronunciation,grammar and semantic of this kind of idiomatic expressions.In the third chapter,some other aspects are analyzed,including secular cultural life reflected in the idiomatic expressions with animals' metaphor,system of metaphor metonymy and the figurative meanings of the relative animals.Part four,proceeding from practice,put forward the difficult points met by foreign students and offer strategies as well as showing a teaching design by giving two examples of the idiomatic expressions of " ??? "(willing ox)and "???"(boasting).The last part is the conclusion,which summarizes the whole essay as well as speaking of the shortcomings of it.
