Notes On The Inadvertent Stagnation In Chinese - English Alternative Interpretation And The Corresponding Tactics

Note-taking in the consecutive interpretation determines the quality of interpreting to large extents. From the interpreting practice, one can know that if there is problem in note-taking, the lower-qualified interpretation may occur, such as improper pauses, the pretermissions and errors in the output of interpretation etc. Thus, regarding the improper pause as the entry point, this paper sets the model consecutive interpretation of The Press Conference for the 3rd Session of the 12 th National People’s Congress in2015 as an example to mainly discuss the note-taking problems that lead to improper pauses in Chinese-English consecutive interpretation. After analyzing, the author realizes that it is the note-taking problems, such as difficult recognition, lacking contents and unclear logic etc, that leads to frequent improper pauses, which influence the interpretation quality. Therefore, the reasons behind the problems will be further analyzed, such as unclear symbols and words, unbalanced brain-remembering and note-taking ability, and improper horizontal layout as well as lack of conjunctions.Meanwhile, this paper will provide some solutions from the following three aspects:using the note-taking method scientifically, balancing the brain-remembering and note-taking ability, and reflecting the logical structure of the notes properly, hoping to enhance note-taking ability and to increase the effectiveness of the notes so that improper pauses will be reduced.
