In consecutive interpretation,note-taking is an effective and necessary tool for interpreters to memorize the speaker's words and deliver the information accurately.Efficient note-taking relieves interpreters' burden of short-term memory and thus increases their output quality.This thesis analyzes the author's interpretation for the speech of Ian Newton about refugees and coronavirus pandemic,studies the impact of inefficient notetaking,identifies the reasons and explores feasible coping strategies.This thesis first introduces the importance of note-taking and major factors behind efficient note-taking.Based on the case study,the author categorizes the examples from three perspective including misinformation,confusing logic and ineffective symbol system.Then the reasons for inefficient note-taking are analyzed which lead to the discussion about practical solutions.The thesis aims to help interpreters improve their note-taking system and interpretation performance.
