| The pragmatism of James has an important role in American philosophy, he inherits Peirce’s view about pragmatism, and affect Dewey’s view in pragmatism. Conception of truth is very important in the pragmatism of James. His conception of truth has an obvious character to tradition conception of truth. This character is that practical elements in conception of truth.This article divided four parts to discuss the conception of truth of pragmatism in James. First part is drive to James’ s pragmatism, we discuss Peirce’s conception of truth about pragmatism, and critic traditional metaphysic. The second part is chapter 2 and chapter 3 in this thesis, it is the main part, in this part discusses radical empiricism, radical empiricism is not suddenly come out, it born from traditional empiricism. When we clarify this point, continue to discuss James’ s conception of truth on pragmatism, and discuss elements in conception of truth. The last part discusses the value and meaning of conception of truth in James. |
