An Analysis Of Japanese Discourse Coherence From The Perspective Of Context

In the sixty of twentieth Century, as an independent discipline, the development of text linguistics had promoted the study of linguistics to the level of discourse or text.Coherence is one of the main features of text. Discourse, as a form of communication,its coherence depends on context. But so far, the study between the context and discourse coherence in Japanese is so limited. This paper attempts to explore the Japanese context on the significance of discourse coherence function and theory system of practice. In this paper on the basis of summarizing the predecessors’ research results,first of all, the basic concepts such as context and discourse coherence are defined, then review and summarize three angles of the characteristics of Japanese discourse coherence respectively from Japanese language context and non-language context,cognitive context. And then the language context is analyzed from the perspective of textual context and inter textual linguistic context, the non-language context is analyzed from the two angles of situational context and cultural context, the cognitive context is analyzed from the mode of operation and the derived from coherent. Finally, the guiding significance of practice is summarized, and the research on the textual coherence in the context of Japanese has a certain theoretical and practical significance.
