Concept And Identity - Symbolic Interpretation Of Material Existence

Materials exist in the real world as objective substances. Materials which are included in the creation of art appear and are expressed differently in works, the utilization and development of materials appears symbolic at the present stage. The symbolism of material is an optical expression to material instead of the material itself, it is both a visual and a mental experience brought by the physical properties of the material. With the passage of time, this experience will link the people’s consciousness with a certain corresponding material, so that when this type of material is mentioned, there would be a certain idea which is metaphorically and symbolically associated with this material. This article is aimed at studying the ‘Symbolism’ and ‘Intentionality’ of materials in artwork, exploring several questions such as the link between materials and objects and their representative identity relations, starting with the forms of material appearance in artistic design works, and its symbolic expression, and through an entanglement of materials and their meaning, the humanistic spirit of art symbolism is revealed.
