Watermark Woodcut Ink Charm

With a very long history watermark print being the quintessence of our country as opera plays a replaceable role in culture inherit as a tool of duplication, before western photograph technology was introduced into China. Chinese wash painting has perfected the technology of traditional watermark print in duplicating process of works by watermark print,which has brought aesthetic taste of Chinese wash paintings into the art of watermark print.By now watermark print wood-cut as an individual painting language has been used in creation of arts.Morden watermark works reveal a kind of taste of knives as a tool and material, as well as a taste of wood, water, and taste of Chinese wash paintings,which has become unique for the addition of modern factors. Based on history and modernity, this dissertation tries to make an animalization about the embodiment of traditional Chinese wash paintings’ charm in modern watermark print.
