Friedrich August Hayek, as the most important liberal theorist in twentieth Century, is undoubtedly a very important figure in the context of the liberal theory. He is one of the most important thoughts in the modern history of human society. For Hayek’s research, many scholars are standing in the perspective of economics, this paper is a study of Hayek’s free thought in the perspective of philosophy, analyzes the times background, ideological origin and philosophical basis of the free thought. Hayek’s free thought is the product of his foothold in the social environment, has a profound theoretical origin and realistic foundation, he is the main representative of the new liberalism, his free thought to the modern society still has a significant impact, the study of his free thought on today’s society has a very big significance.This article includes a total of seven chapters, chapter one is the introduction, briefly discussed I choose from the perspective of the philosophy of Hayek’s freedom of thought research significance, methods and the literature review. The second chapter describes the times background, the ideological sources of Hayek’s free thought, which is the two aspects of the ideological sources, one is the Austria School of economics, the two is the British style of classical liberalism. The third chapter analyzes the philosophical foundation of Hayek’s thought of freedom, which mainly has four aspects: one is the non- general meaning of individualism, the two is the theory of knowledge, the three is the limited nature of human reason, and the four is the spontaneous order. The main content of chapter four introduces Hayek’s thought of liberty. The main contents include four aspects: the first is the meaning of freedom is from others arbitrary will of mandatory, and the second is free but is under the rule of law by, and the third freedom is based on the development of individual potential students and identification of inequality, and the fourth is democracy is a kind of method, freedom is the target. The fifth chapter is the objective evaluation of Hayek’s free thought, which is intended to reveal the significance of Hayek’s theory of freedom.
