As an inquiry into the relationship of music, painting and dance, this dissertation provides an analysis of Granados’ s “El pelele: Escena Goyesca”(The Puppet: Goya Scene) along with a comparative study between this composition and the suite “Goyescas”. The whole research is based on a thorough knowledge of the national characteristics of Spain. It also includes classification and summary of piano-playing techniques involved in this composition. Through examining Granados’ s works, it helps readers know more about Granados himself, his achievement, and his contribution to the Spanish music. This dissertation demonstrates the important role Granados played in the history of music, with an emphasis on the way of expressing and performing in “El pelele: Escena Goyesca” which was composed after his most successful work “Goyescas”. This may help pianists find an easier and better way to perform dance music of Spanish style.
