Under the circumstance of “economic wave”, “tourism wave”and “Chinese wave”between China and Thailand, more and more people in Thailand use Chinese to communicate. Its use range also becomes more and more wide. Chinese has become popular in the whole Thailand from universities to primary schools and even kindergartens. Schools in Thailand also attach a close importance on Chinese learning.Meanwhile, Chinese culture also exerts larger and larger influences on Thailand and generates great attractions to Thai people. More Thai people hope to know Chinese culture extensively and profoundly through Chinese learning. As a special culture of China, calligraphy has a profound culture contents. Many Thai students want to grasp calligraphy skills while learning Chinese.Taking students of elementary Chinese level in Dongmafai Wittaya Middle School in northeast of Thailand which the author has taught as examples, according to the calligraphy study demands of Thai students, using calligraphy teaching research results in International Chinese teaching as well as the author’s Chinese calligraphy culture teaching experiences and Chinese culture curriculum design for foreigners as references,this paper designed calligraphy teaching aiming to Thailand from cross-culture point of view. The author hopes it will provide some references to future calligraphy teaching in Thailand.This paper mainly includes five parts. Chapter One mainly introduced the background, significance, current situation and methods of calligraphy teaching research in Thailand from cross-culture point of view. Chapter Two mainly studied the necessity of calligraphy teaching in Thailand from cross-culture point of view including global identification to Chinese calligraphy, integration of Chinese calligraphy culture and Thai culture, spread of morality of Chinese calligraphy, health maintenance advantages of Chinese calligraphy, assisting roles of Chinese calligraphy for Chinese learning of Thai students, enhancing Chinese learning enthusiasm and understanding Chinese culture.Chapter Three performed an overall design of the calligraphy teaching in Thailand in teaching object, teaching conditions, teaching objectives, teaching principles, teaching approaches, teaching hours and teaching contents. Chapter Four presented a concrete class according to the above teaching design. The last chapter is conclusion which summarized the advantages and disadvantages of this paper.
