A Study Of Music Literature In Qing Dynasty

The Chinese opera in Qing dynasty plays an important historical role in the whole development of Chinese opera. The development of opera literature in Qing dynasty also shows particular modality. it is a significant component of Chinese ancient music literature. Palace opera literature also gets great achievement of art due to the prosperity and development of palace opera culture, which plays an important role in the reform development of opera literature and ancient music. Based on the above mentioned, the author selects the palace opera literature in Qing dynasty as the topic of the master’s thesis.The first section of this paper is to analyze the historical evolution of Chinese opera in Qing dynasty, mainly on changes from three aspects like acting institution, acting personnel and opera drama in Qing dynasty. This is the basis of studying opera literature in Qing dynasty. The second part of this paper is to overview palace opera in Qing dynasty. The Chinese opera in Qing dynasty is going to be generally summarized via historical development, theme characteristics and creation type. The third section of this paper is to study palace opera repertoires in Qing dynasty. It will be divided into two categories of ceremony play and spectacle play and they will be introduced individually. The fourth section is to study the changes of palace opera lyrics in Qing dynasty,which investigates the art features of lyrics by analyzing representative lyrics from the aspects of kunqu, yi cavity, shanxi opera, pihuang tune etc. The fifth section is overall analysis for palace opera lyrics in Qing dynasty. Firstly, the lyrics structure of palace opera in Qing dynasty is to be discussed, then the artistic connotation of lyrics is to be analyzed. The sixth part is to analyze the reason of palace opera literature evolution, which states the effects from the aspects of changes of political factors, aesthetic taste from audiences, types of drama and social trends.All in all, this paper is to make a systematic and necessary analysis for excellent and representative palace opera lyrics. As a result, we can understand the art charm contained better and master the beauty of music literature in Qing dynasty in different aspects.
