In resent years, because English is used broadly around the world, it has become a universal language. Therefore, it is important for our students to learn English well. For Chinese students, negative language transfer is a huge challenge and it is a widespread phenomenon in the process of second language acquisition. In this vest country, colorful dialects have lots of influence for learning English. Based on second language acquisition theory, negative transfer exists between mother tongue and target language. In the previous researches, many researchers focus on the relation between dialects and negative transfer in learning English, however, there is hardly any academic research on Guiyang dialect negative transfer in English pronunciation learning. In consequence, it is necessary for us to study how Guiyang dialect affect natives to learn English, and then provide a pronunciation reference standard for Guiyang students.Based on the language transfer theory and linguistics theory, through the use of questionnaires, interviews method, and comparative analysis, this paper is aimed to research the effects of Guiyang dialect on English learning by Guiyang dialect in vowels, consonants, intonation, stress, rhythm, and other aspects, to discover difficult tone for Guiyang dialect students in learning English phonetics aspects, As a result, the aim is to seek solutions of dialect on English learning negative migration and help educators find solutions of pronunciation problem, so as to enhance the level of local teaching. In phonetic test, we found that students in Guiyang area usually use similar syllables to replace the orthoepy when they have no idea about the correct pronunciation in English. Moreover, this kind of mistakes that would interfere with pronunciations, and hard to distinguish the manner and the place of articulation in both Guiyang dialect and English. For example, when we focus on the intonation, stress and rhythm, students will confuse the rising-falling tone or absence of intonation. Similarly, reading the sentences gently, cannot find stress, no rhythm in the sentences are also the serious issues for Guiyang students. In this research, Guiyang dialect has negative transfer in this area obviously when people study English pronunciation. The result of this paper will contribute to complete the negative transfer theory between Guiyang dialect and English pronunciation.
