The generation of a new kind of teaching idea usually will give rise to a new type of teaching material. In recent years, as task-based teaching method has become the mainstream of current foreign language teaching, the circle of teaching Chinese as a foreign language gradually pays attention to the teaching method and many researchers gradually transfer the focus from researching theories of task-based teaching methods and Chinese class teaching to the research of the compilation of task-based Chinese teaching materials. In the compilation of task-based teaching materials, the compilation of tasks is the core of the teaching material. How to design, select, compile, arrange and implement tasks in teaching materials is the key to success of these teaching materials. However, most of the researches on task-based Chinese teaching materials are carried out from the macroscopic perspective, while few researchers analyze and research task-based Chinese teaching materials from the perspective of “task”. This thesis selects two primary spoken Chinese teaching materials of New Target Spoken Chinese Textbook and Experience Spoken Chinese Courses which are totally compiled based on the task-based teaching method as research objects and combines basic theories of task-based teaching methods with communication task outline. From the scope and classification of task goals, the thesis illustrates the setting classification and setting amount in the three learning modes of task-based teaching method, summarizes the characteristics of the task setting, then combines parts of teaching practice to conclude problems existing in the “tasks” of teaching materials and proposes suggestions on the compilation of these teaching materials.The thesis is composed of four chapters. The first chapter is the analysis of some domestic and foreign classical task-based teaching methods and task-based Chinese teaching materials. The second chapter is the review of present task-based teaching methods and the basic condition of selected researching teaching materials. The third chapter carries out a statistical analysis of the scope and types of task goals by combining with the communicative task outline and a systematic analysis of the types, amount and characteristics of task setting in teaching materials. The fourth chapter summarizes problems existing in the task compilation in teaching materials and puts forward some compilation suggestions.
