| In the beginning of the21st century, the rise of Internet technologies hasbrought great changes to the spreading rate and transparency of information. Theconnection among different people becomes easier and faster, which leads to theconcept of "Socialization". With the largest proportion of internet users as wellas being the leading expert in internet technology, the United States is the firstto be hit by this social trend. This trend has penetrated almost every aspect ofpeople"s life, business, study or entertainment, domestic and foreign politics arenot exceptions. The first chapter discusses the current diplomatic decision mechanismand procedure while the second part will explain the definition and main features ofsocial era as well as the changes it will bring and the trends it will influence. Then realexamples will be cited and analyzed to verify these ideas.Based on this background, this essay discussed two possible influences thatmight happen upon the governmental decision of US foreign policy. As for theorganizational structure, the old pyramid structure which contains explicit hierarchywill gradually become flat while for the intelligence agencies, it will become harderand harder to control the flow of information, thus causing more and more burdenon secret diplomacy.
