A Study On Russia 's BRICS National Strategy

The establishment of BRICS is one of the most important geopolitical events inthe twenty-first century, which reflects not only common aspirations of BRICS toreform the existing international political and economic system, but also objectiverequirements of development of international relations. Dramatic changes in thegeopolitical situation of Russia after the break-up of the Soviet Union, foundation forstrategic cooperation between Russia and the other member-countries of BRICS, allof these factors drove Russia select BRICS and considered it as a priority in Russianforeign policy. Russia aims to promote its economic development and multipolardevelopment of the foreign policy, expand its global influence, promote the reform ofthe international monetary and financial system, safeguard the world peace andsecurity, enhance national cultural soft power through deepening cooperation with theother member-countries in the fields of economic and trade, money and finance,politics and diplomacy, international security and socio-culture etc. Currently, on theone hand, Russia actively uses the regular BRICS summit and different forms ofsenior officials meeting for consulting on important international political economicissues etc. and coordinate positions, promoting the implementation of commonperspectives and practical cooperation with the other BRICS member-countries, andachieving his strategic objectives; on the other hand, makes efforts to dominate thecooperation in related fields with the advantages in traditional techniques such asaerospace, nuclear and military, as well as resources supplying system for thescientific research and personnel supplying system. In the near future, Russia willexpand the range of local currency settlement in BRICS, promote theinternationalization of the ruble and the process of modernization of the Russianeconomy, clear the ideas of Russian sustainable development, and enhance the statusand role in the global governance system through extensive cooperation andexchanges with the other member-countries.
