With the accelerated development of the socialist construction of ourcountry, culture has played an increasingly prominent role in society. TheEighteenth National Party Congress has promoted the culture construction tothe level of national development strategy. As distinctive cultural form, RedCulture boasts precious value which formed in the course of the revolutionarystruggle for national independence and liberation, in the times of oursocialist construction and in the new period of the Reform and Opening-up bythe Chinese communist party who leading all the ethnic groups of our Chinese.The purpose of this paper is to study the basic processes of the Red Culture,such as its germination, formation, development to the transformation andintegration mainly from the definition, connotation and extension and basictypes of Red Culture, then to its germination in new-democratic period, itsformation in the founding period, the preliminary development in the AgrarianRevolutionary War period, its further development in the Anti-Japanese Warand the Liberation War, at last to its transformation and integration sincethe establishment of New China. As for the definition of the Red Culture, thereare different views in academic circles. While all in all, Red Culture is theessence of material culture and spiritual culture which formed during theRevolution and Construction practice of Communist Party. The sprout periodof the Red Culture is in the May Fourth New Culture Movement which lays theclass and theoretical foundation for the formation of Red Culture. Thematerial form of Red Culture is formed by Marxist theory, especially the siteof the first National Party Congress. During the period of the Land RevolutionWar, there were some revolutionary base areas and relics which left after theLong March on the basis of the material form of Red Culture; on the other handrevolutionary spirit, such as Jinggangshan spirit and Long March spirit onthe basis spiritual form of Red Culture. During the period of the Anti-Japanese War and the Liberation War, it continued to form the revolution sites suchas Parallel Close Battle sites, and the valuable revolutionary spirit of thespirit of Yan ’an. Since the establishment of New China, the Red Cultureexperienced the transition in the development, went through consolidation inthe transition, so as to form a new great era spirit in the course of socialistconstruction. At the same time, the Party and the State of China began toprotect and exploit the Red Culture as well as to create a lot of red literaryworks. The Red Culture has received prosperous development under thebackground of multicultural, while it is also faced with many challenges.
