Central Asia is located in the core area of Eurasia. Before the searoad opened, central Asia was a point of transportation and trade routesbetween east and west, and also a channel for culture contacting andspreading. As a result, it is known as "the crossroads of the worldcivilization". After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the United Statesrapidly penetrated into the "vacuum" with its powerful military strength,occupying the strategic position and plundering rich energy resources.Starting from the second term of bush administration, US’s Central Asiapolicy has encountered a significant adjustment. America’s Central Asiastrategy cannot ignore Afghanistan and Pakistan and other regions. Fromthe war on terror, democracy promoting to the pursuit of regionalintegration of Central Asia and South Asia, the US take advantage ofvarious means in economy, security and balanced democracy to inspire thelarge economic potential of Central Asia region, promoting thediversification of global energy wealth and the integration of CentralAsia into the world system. Based on policies as the main line, this papersimply sums up the revolution of America’s Central Asia policies duringthe post-Cold War period. Plus, this paper mainly compares thedifferences of America’s Central Asia policies, especially from theimplementation of "Big Central Asia Plan" to "New Silk Road Vision"(2005-2011). This paper summarizes the characteristics of each policy,connected with the domestic, regional and international background, itreveals the deep reasons hidden in the policy evolution. Thus, this paperhas a tentative analysis of the future trend of America’s Central Asiapolicy.
