The United States Supreme Court is playing a significant role in the American politics. It takes the responsibility of being a guardian of the Constitutional principles and institutional traditions. In the decision of foreign policy, the Court also participates and has indispensable influence, even though the Constitution authorizes the other branches, especially the Executive department to play the main role. For the first, the statistics of cases involving foreign affairs disposed in the Court through the years show a relatively meaningful proportion in the total amounts of cases. Moreover, different fates and influences of two similar cases which might be classified as "political question" proves that the Court in cases indicating foreign policy does not always avoid interference or support the President by default. |
