Huaxia centralism was a dominant world view of the ancient China, and it was also the core of the feudal dynasty in Chinese foreign relations. This kind of idea main thought that China was center of the world no matter in culture, geographic or political. Nationalism is a kind of thought or movement which is on the basis of own national interests. This kind of thought not only regard own nation as the main body of national politics, economy and culture, but also put the own national supreme status.The huaxia centralism which influenced China for thousands of years finally replaced by nationalism, how did the huaxia centralism declined? How did nationalism rose in modern China? What is the relationship between the two? Is there any deeper connotation in the alternating of that two thoughts? These questions are the emphases of this paper.This paper analyse by means of concentrate on the common point of these two thoughts that both of them see own nation better than others. Then combine the course of thoughts alternating and the course of Chinese national system transformation, and make a more depth political discussion. The decline of huaxia centralism was an important impetus of the rose of nationalism, and it was inevitable under the background of the national system transformation.There is five part of this paper:the first one is introductory theory. This part mainly introduced the background of the theme, the significance of research and the research methods. Second part introduced what is huaxia centralism and how did it went downhill. Third part introduced what is nationalism and how did it rose in modern China. Fourth part combining analysis the two curse and the relationship of those two thoughts. Final part is a conclusion of the whole article.
