East Asian Women 's Participation In Politics From The Perspective Of Feminist International Relations

Women’s political participation is an important means for women to use their own political rights, consciously take part in state and social public affairs and achieve their own values. At the same time, it embodies women’s higher needs after their basic needs such as natural existence and spiritual existence are met. As one of the main body of political participation, women’s influence on politics can’t be ignored. Women’s political participation is also an important means to achieve equality of men and women as well as crucial content to promote and develop social and democratic politics. Therefore, the study of women’s political participation has great significance.As an essential part of modern western international political theory, international relations of feminism are the theoretical foundation of women’s political participation, and play an important part in improving women’s status and struggling for women’s legal rights. The thesis takes the thought of women’s political participation in international relations as study focus, extracts and summarizes the thought of women’s political participation and makes a theoretical analysis. Based on the western thought of women’s political participation, the study analyzes present situation of women’s political participation in East Asia, such as China, South Korea, and Japan. In modern times, the number of women who participate in politics in East Asia has increased and political environment has improved, showing that thought of women’s political participation in international relations has taken a positive effect in breaking political situation of male dominance, upholding women’s political and social rights in society, and promoting world peace, but women’s development still confront great resistance in reality, which shows that there exists some drawbacks of thought of women’s political participation in solving inequality of women’s political status.By analyzing thought of women’s political participation in international relations and the problems women in East Asia confronted in political participation, the thesis thinks about present situation of women’s political participation in East Asia in the perspective of feminism, taking the essence and discarding the dregs, uses feminism theory to guide practice of women’s political participation in East Asia. By combining the two together, the thesis is aimed at improving political participation of women in East Asia and providing some new implications on specific strategies and improving methods.
