Since the late1970s, drugs have caused serious social problems around China.Nowadays, the number of Chinese female drug users shows a rising trend, causing amatter of wide social concern. Because of gender factors, female drug users causegrave hazards to society, such as prostitution and sexual transmitted diseases. At thesame time, long-time drug abuse and prostitution are also harmful for women’s health.The article is based on sociological perspective, using survey methods and individualinterview to analyze the reasons why Yunnan’s young women take drugs, and toconclude the main factors that cause Yunnan’s young women to take drugs, so muchso that this article provides reference for the drug control department to formulaterelated policy. The author and the research team have handed out questionnairesamong the compulsory detoxification center, community drug-relief rehabilitationcenter, methadone treatment outpatient and other places in Dehong, Baoshan, Dali,Chuxiong, Xishuangbanna, Pu’er, Yuxi and Kunming, all in Yunnan Province. In Eachplace,200-400questionnaires were distributed and finally a total of2300questionnaires were submitted, among which2204copies are valid. We have thuscollected486women’s questionnaires and49individual interviews. Based on thewomen data and interviews, an empirical research has been carried out in this article.This article is divided into four chapters. The first chapter deals with the analysisof the status of female drug users in eight cities of Yunnan Province, which mainlyanalyzes the basic situation of taking drugs and discusses initial female drug usersand their infection status. In terms of the characteristics and status of female drugaddicts, the second chapter analyzes the personal factors for Yunnan’s young womento take drugs, mainly from the age, education, occupation, physical and psychologicalfactors, and behavior before taking drugs. Based on family income factors, Chapter III deals with the family environment which affects female drug users, mostly fromthe perspective of parents’ anti-drug education in the family and family rapport.Chapter IV discusses social factors, considering social interaction, regional anti-drugeducation and the availability of getting drugs. The last chapter summarizes thereason why Yunnan young females take drugs.
