The dispute on South China Sea was originated in last1950s, which is about thedisagreement on sovereignty on island of South China Sea and the boundary of neighboringcountries. After the end of the cold war, the South China Sea issue intensified, which drawsthe attention of the United Stated to this region. In the U.S. perspective, its interests in theSouth China Sea is mainly exist in two aspects. On one hand, it is the freedom of navigationin South China sea. On the other side, the interest is the stability in Asia Pacific region.Freedom of navigation is the prosperity of the security America overseas economicdevelopment; and the stability of the Asia Pacific region is not only related to USA ineconomic development in the Asia Pacific region, from a strategic height, the maintenance isalso a matter of leadership in the Asia Pacific region. The South China Sea dispute involved inSoutheast Asia, Chinese provides checks and balances for U.S. multilateral securitymechanism, and establish new and developing the opportunity.My work is to analyze Obama government’s policy on South China Sea issue from itsperspective on the whole Asia Pacific strategic framework. Through the overall objectives andframework of Asia Pacific Security Strategy Study of the cold war the Obama administration’sanalysis of the evolution of South China Sea policy, America. U.S. policy for the South ChinaSea has always attached importance to the development of alliance, and in the securityactively expand new partnership, while enhancing its military forces in the Asia Pacific region,and hope that the development of regional security mechanism to resolve the disputes over theSouth China Sea changeable.The U.S. policy on South China Sea will not only brings huge influence to dispute thestate, but also affects the dispute resolution channels and direction. Research on U.S. after thecold war’s policy for the South China Sea is of vital significance to maintain regional security.
