People has entered a so-called post-pc era at 21 st century, the embedded technology as the main post-pc era of technology, has developed rapidly. The embedded technology takes the concrete application as a center, unifies the computer technology and the communication technology becomes the research and the development's key point. GPRS(General Packet Radio Service) connect wideband(e.g. Internet) with wireless communications network, so GPRS can be widely applied in Internet, remote mobile management and remote control. The integration between the GPRS communication and the embedded technology has a high value in theoretical research and engineering practice aspects.This thesis implements a GPRS communication system based embedded systems and wireless communication technology. In terms of hardware, the system uses S3C2410X as the main chip, and use the SIM300-GPRS module. In the operating system, Linux operating system which is one of the most popular open source and free OS is adopted, so it can satisfy the requirement of this design. So we can achieve PC communicate with the embedded platform through the local net, so it can control the GPRS wireless communication module which on the embedded platform, through the GPRS network to communicate with the phone for basic voice communications, and additional text messages and other services.The paper mainly focuses on software design and gives an account of software development for modules after the hardware and development environment has been built, the modules include the control module with the friendly interface on PC, the control module with the friendly interface on pc, communication module for pc and the ARM platform, GPRS communications and control module four parts. After study the research back ground of topics and the GPRS technology principles, characteristics and applications, including the AT instruction set and related functions. The paper discusses the overall design and composition modules of the system, introduce the platforms of software and hardware and their establishment, then the Paper discussed the development platform and the embedded operation system in detail, then presents the analysis of realization of each compositions modules on system and tests the system. Finally, carries on the summary and outlook to this design work.
