The Study And Implementation Of Information Appliance Network Communication Model Based On IMP Technology

Information Appliance (IA) is a product of merging information processing technology, memory technology and network communication technology with traditional home appliance. With the development of home network information system, the network communication among IAs becomes more and more important.The diversity of IAs and their related technologies makes their communication model really special. Meanwhile, with the rapid development of IA, many new requirements of the communication technology emerged. Such as: services sharing among IAs, multimedia data transmission, communication with general PC platform and so on. The IA communications demand that the sub-layer communication technology could provide better support and various functions. However there's not much research on this field up to now.Instant Messaging and Presence (IMP) technology are widely used resently. Instant Messaging (IM) applications, like MSN, QQ, have been deep into our daily life and changing the way of our communication. IMP technology has many good features, like contact status notification, instant message delivering and multi-conference establishment and management. With the development of Internet and multimedia technology, more multimedia communication capabilities, like voice chat, video, file exchange and online game are involved in the IMP applications. IMP-based applications are becoming a new communication platform in Internet.The main purpose of this thesis is to study how to apply IMP technology to IAs and improve the quality of IA network communication.This thesis begins with analyzing the actuality and predicament of IA communication. Second, it introduces IMP technology and discusses the main features of IMP.
