The Study On The Collaborative Digital Reference Service In Military Academy Library

Information warfare is becoming the main form of the modern war increasingly. Countries all over the world attach importance to the training of military fighter and military commander. People's Liberation Army has set up the military training information net (MTN) in the middle of 1990s. All military academies and research institutes have been connected through the MTN. The military academy libraries have superiority of military digital information resources and expert resources as the owner of military digital information resource and expert resource. How to rely on military training network enable the military libraries to make full use of their rich military digital information resources and expert resources by advanced information services and to give full play to their role in reality? The collaborative digital reference service (CDRS) is ideal mode of current digital information service. CDRS is a synergies reference system on internet or intranet which makes full use of the achievements of computer technology, database technology, teamwork techniques distributed network communication technology and agent technology. A number of libraries or advisory body establishes cooperative relations and makes full use of their respective characteristics of information resources and expert resources and coordinates their service hours, 7 days a week. 24 hours a day, continuously, accept all requests for information from local information users or information users around the world, seeks suitable access road for these requests by use of coordination mechanisms. In this process, each information request and answer will be recorded in the system knowledge base which can be shared by information users from all around the world.The paper makes use of various research methods, including the document investigation, information retrieval on internet resource, comparison, synthesis conclude, case analysis and etc, making a further research about collaborative digital reference service. Based on the introduction of CDRS' production and development, this paper analyses systemically the factors on the model of CDRS and compares the model of CDRS among different countries. This paper discusses the deficiency of current patterns of CDRS and gives ideas and suggestion on developing CDRS in military academy libraries finally.The paper consists of four parts.Part 1 is from Chapter 1 to Chapter 2. The author summarizes the development of the reference service, analyzes the characteristics of reference service in each development stage and compares each devetopment stage deeply in the point of view of the vertical. The author thinks that CDRS is the development current of the reference service in the future.Part 2 is the chapter 3. The author analyzes the domestic and foreign research actuality of CDRS, and introduces the problems needed to be resolved immediately in the future in this part.Part 3 is the chapter 4. This part investigates on several factors relating to the model of CDRS deeply such as collaborative mode and operating mode and operating mechanism and serving mode and content of services, analyzes and administration and so on. In this part, the author analyzes the representative case of CDRS such as Ask a librarian and Questionpoint and Collaborative Online Reference Services both at home and at abroad, draws conclusions which will be used in the development of CDRS in military academy library finally.Part 4 is from Chapter 5 to Chapter 7. This part is the achievements of the study. The author analyses systemically the environment of military academy at first. The author thinks that the system should adopt a unified technology platform, implement uniform technical and service standards, take the large and middle size library as the main body, unite both information resource and expert resource which owed by each library, provide users with real-time, comprehensive, professional, accurate, and no time and space constraints, multiple access modes of reference services. The function of the system is to serve the teaching and scientific research at peace time and to serve the strategic decision-making at important time. The system should ensure the military information resource security. The author gives conceive and suggestion on developing CDRS in military academy libraries such as collaborative mode, operating mode, operating mechanism, serving mode and content of services. In the end of this part the author brings forward the question which should be paid attention to such as management, criterion, law, technology, security and so on.
