With the development of the embedded system, the advantages and disadvantages of employing ASIC or CPU to implement the digital system has been compared and analyzed. Paper mainly introduce the design technology of SOPC(System on a Programmable Chip) and research the design technology of SOPC which is based on the Nios embedded soft core processor.The performance and the characteristics of embedded hard core and embedded soft core processor styles were analyzed, and the structure, performance and on-chip bus regulation about Nios processor were emphatically studied, which is a new type of production in Altera Company. According to the requirement of general embedded system development, especially the design of data collection system based on Nios processor is provided. The function and component of experimental system were analyzed. The design scheme of the whole system is provided, and the key problems on the design and implementation of the experimental system were researched. Furthermore,Two parts are described in this paper. Firstly I describe the hardware design of data collection system. I particularly describe two main modules consult to ancient experience. The one is forepart signal adjust circuit and the other is soft core processor base on Nios and others modules design. However, the forepart signal adjust circuit includes the signal attenuation and amplification circuit,signal filter circuit and the data collection circuit; the second part include power module,JTAG module,SRAM module,FLASH module,CLOCK module,PIO module,FIFO module,PCI module and etc.The second part introduce the program design of data collection system based on SOPC, which includes the process of data collection system design,auto state machine based on Verilog HDL. The hardware control A/D changing and FIFO saving.Finally, the experimental system was emulated and validated. By analyzing the results. The correctness of the design scheme of the experimental system and the feasibility of the SOPC based on the Nios embedded soft core processor have been validated. The result of the research in this thesis settled technology basis in the design of on-chip chipper process system with the Nios processor.
