Based on the"ERP/MES/PCS"three-layer architecture of management structure in manufacturing industry brought forward by American AMR Research Company, Manufactoring Execution System(MES) works as a connecting link between ERP and PCS. This thesis points out that among the several functional modules of MES,"data-acquisition and transmission"is the module that acquires data through direct contact with the bottom-layer equipments. Lack of an embedded universal solution of data-acquisition and transmission has been the bottleneck of the informatization process of the discrete manufacturing enterprises.An overall design of informatization for the experimental workshop in a steering factory is proposed in this thesis. First, basic functions and technical requirements of the embedded terminal are discussed. ARM MPU and the performance characteristics of ARM920T are introduced. Then, analysis on reasons of selecting S3C2410A is described and the development of software and hardware is provided according to the requirements. The design of hardware includes: core-board, which is also the basis of extended motherboard design .The motherboard extends many interfaces, for example: the Ethernet, USB HOST, two serial ports, JTAG and display interfaces. The design of software includes: building up the Linux development environment, transplanting the Linux kernel and file system to S3C2410A, and also the transplantation of the device drivers such as net Aadapter, LCD, Touch screen, USB port, Implementation of user interface named Qtopia. The application software includes: the client program of data-acquisition and the server program of curve resumption and printing.The embedded MES data-acquisition and transmission terminal discussed in this thesis could be widely used in many industrials and could replace the traditional industrial computer in the use of data-acquisition and transmission with the advantages of lower cost, smaller size, integration, multi-interfaces, more reliable and more universal. Also some methods this thesis used to research and design the system of embedded MES data-acquisition and transmission terminal are advanced and with good practicability to have application prospects and proper demonstration effects.
