The resolving power of spaceborne remote sensing image has been improved speedily, which has reached 0.1m and bits of every pixel has reached 16. This brings the increase of image data and makes Real-time data transmitting, receiving and saving more difficult. Therefore, the compression of spaceborne remote sensing image appears more imminent and more important. But because spaceborne remote sensing image has the characteristics of weak relativity, high information entropy and low redundancy, with the high code input speed and the special require of high fidelity when image rebuild, the compression of remote sensing image has been a difficult problem in the compression of static image, and some conventional image coding, such as JPEG, can not acquire good compression effect.As the new generation standard of static image compression, JPEG2000 have many advantages in comparison with other compression algorithm. But because of its complex algorithm and high memory requirement, it is have to be improved considing diversified factors, especialy the characters of hardware platform, before it being used in spaceborne remote sensing image compression.In this background and combining with the project "Development of xx-9 satellite data compression equipment" and the 863 National High Technology Research and Development Program "xxx image data compression technology", this dissertation researches on the JPEG2000 image compression, designs the spaceborne remote sensing image compression hardware platform based on JPEG2000 and its subordinated equipment, Satellite Image Simulation Resource. The main contents of this dissertation are as follows:1. Design the spaceborne remote sensing image compression hardware platform based on JPEG2000. This platform, which adopts the architecture of double FPGA and parallel multiple DSPs, has the advantages of strong data processing capability, good parallel performance, easy update characteristic and so on.2. Improve the coding algorithm of JPEG2000. The modification of JPEG includes: isolation of signal coding in EBC, modification to context model, isolation of MQ-coding from the bit plane scanning and modified MQ-coder.3. Design and implement the Satellite Image Simulation Resource. This equipment can simulate 17 CCD image data, have two work modes, four alterable frame frequencies and can guarantee the research and test of the spaceborne remote sensing image compression equipment.
